Galatians 231, Philippians and Titus 232, 1 and 2 Thessalonians 233

Students study a book of the New Testament and go through each chapter verse by verse. This class has portions that involve personal study, group study and discussion. This course is taught on a two-year rotation with all CEC students attending together.

Ephesians and History of Christian Counseling 231, Scientific Affirmation of Scripture 232 and 1 and 2 Timothy 233

Ministry & Outreach 111, 112, 113

Students apply the Biblical principles they have learned to real life ministry opportunities. For example, each year the students plan a Christmas community outreach event on site.

Hunt Seat Theory and Lab 121, 122, 123

This course will take an in-depth look at the discipline of forward seat riding developed for the hunt field and specifically jumping. The theory of this “modern” style of riding will be looked at closely and then put into practice in riding lessons. Students will be divided into semi-private or small group weekly lessons according to their level of experience.

Dressage Theory and Lab 121, 122, 123

This course will look at the correct foundation for all disciplines of riding for both horse and rider. A working knowledge of Dressage levels, movements, and showing will be developed throughout the year. Students will be divided into semi-private or small group weekly lessons according to their level of experience.

Western Riding Theory and Lab 121, 122, 123

Students study the basics of Western riding including; a practical knowledge of equitation, use of the aids, bits and bitting, western disciplines, and show preparation. Students will be divided into semi-private or small group weekly lessons according to their level of experience.

Equine Anatomy, Conformation and Movement 121, 122, 123

Students will learn equine anatomy and apply it to conformation, movement, and suitability for sports. Students evaluate horses theoretically and systematically.

Facility Design & Management 111, 112

This course is designed to cover all aspects of the development, management, programming, and promotion of a facility. The students will conceive a facility of their choice and write a mission statement. They will design, lay out floor-plans, create a management plan, deal with environmental concerns, develop publicity and advertising for their facility. Field trips to other facilities in the area are included to gain insight into different ways of accomplishing the requirements of the project.

Staff Training 111

Students learn how to effectively manage camp situations. They are equipped with a Biblical method for interacting with campers, fellow staff and supervisors.

Herd Management 111

Students are introduced to practical herd management. Topics include basic feeds, hoof care, and horse behavior.

Learning Styles & Evalution Skills and Lab 121

Students will learn how to more effectively communicate and teach horseback riding lessons. Students will be mentored in our Fellowship Riding Lesson program. This course begins with a Certified Horsemanship Association (CHA) clinic and draws significantly from the CHA curriculum.

Teaching Techniques and Lab 122, 123

This course will combine both classroom studies and practical arena classes taught to classmates. Examples of correct and safe ways to teach specific topics will be taught. Students will also learn the “system” for instructing at Canyonview in our public riding lesson program.

Tack Selection & Fit 112

This course is designed to look closely at all the tack we use on the horse in both English and Western riding. The emphasis will be on fitting the tack and understanding how it is made, maintained, and repaired.

Spiritual Dynamics of Leadership 113

This course is an interactive look into each student’s leadership strengths and areas of growth. There is a strong emphasis on character development.

Facility Marketing 113

This is the continuation of Facility Design & Management. Students will learn how to market the facilities that they previously designed. Students also learn about marketing horses and themselves for employment.
