Colossians, Philemon and Jude 131, Acts 132, Acts 133

Students study a book of the New Testament and go through each chapter verse by verse. This course is taught on a two-year rotation with all CEC students attending together.

Students study a book of the New Testament and go through each chapter verse by verse. This course is taught on a two-year rotation with all CEC students attending together. 231 and 232 bring in additional texts, but still use the Bible as the primary text.

Breaking & Training Theory 221, 222, 223 and Lab

The objective of this course is to train a young horse to be an obedient, responsive, safe, servant-hearted horse on the ground and under saddle. The student will study multiple methods for achieving this goal, including use of the round pen, arenas, and will apply them to their project horse. Each term will bring new goals for students and their horses, with the purpose of producing a horse that will be ready to work towards a specific discipline. These goals will be determined by the individual needs of the horse/student pair.

Ministry & Outreach 211, 212, 213

Students learn to apply the Biblical principles they have learned to real life ministry opportunities. Each year students plan a Christmas community outreach on site working with the first year students.

Internship 220, 221, 222

CEC requires three 80 hour internships to be carried out in the second year of study. These include internships in horsemanship, ministry, and a special interest specific to each student. Dean of Students will assist in scheduling.

Combined Training Theory and Lab 221, 222, 223

This course will cover the three aspects of Combined Training: Dressage, Stadium Jumping, and Cross-Country. The year will progress from a basic introduction of Combined Training to a two-day horse trial during Spring finals. Students will be divided into semi-private or small group weekly lessons according to their level of experience.

Reining/ Reined Cow Work Theory and Lab 221, 222, 223

This course will focus on the Reined horse and will explore what that term means beyond the show pen. It will also involve all aspects of the well-trained horse, whether it be for ranch work, cow work, or show. Students will learn what it takes to show a reining horse as well as ride a well-trained stock horse on cattle. Students will be divided into semi-private or small group weekly lessons

Teaching Techniques 211, 212, 213

A continuation of first year’s Teaching Techniques with more of an emphasis on developing students’ individual teaching styles and giving them more experience. This course will end with a Standard CHA clinic, where students will focus on arena instruction and will be certified.

Equine Herd Health 221

The goal of this course is for students to have a practical, yet technical knowledge of equine herd health maintenance procedures, as well as recognition of diseases and disorders.

Facility Management 211

This course will take a ten-week look at the most important areas of operating a horse business including; different philosophies of management as well as learning specific skills needed to be a well-rounded employee.

Camp Programming 212

Students learn the “ins-and-outs” of our camping ministry. Each student is assigned a weekend camp to fully plan and schedule. Then they will carry out their plan as Assistant Program Director that weekend.

Equine Reproduction 212

Students will study stallion and mare reproductive anatomy, breeding concepts, and foaling.

Discipleship 212

Using a Biblical model, students learn and practice discipleship through servanthood and accountability. Discipleship is put into practice with fellow students, through the Fellowship Riding Lessons, and Weekend Camps.

Herd & Facility Management 223

Students gain valuable experience learning the practical essentials of maintaining an equestrian establishment, such as driving a tractor and pulling a trailer.
